Fourth of July Weekend - Day 2

The best part of staying the night in Monument Valley is definitely watching the sunset and sunrise light up the desert. Unfortunately, our day did not continue as smoothly, as a flat tire cut it short by a few hours. After getting our tire fixed in the middle of nowhere, we sped up the drive to Moab and luckily still managed to go on a sunset horse ride. We only have iPhone shots of our horse ride, and might upload those later.

Fourth of July Weekend - Day 1

With a short delay, we are finally posting some pictures of our extended Fourth of July Weekend. We hope that you will enjoy this glimpse of our trip to the National Parks! Please bear with me - Alan's photography skills make it difficult to pick only a few photos.

On our first day, we left Las Vegas behind us and continued straight on to Lake Powell, Antelope Canyon and Monument Valley to see as much of the area's natural beauty as possible.

Day 15: Los Angeles (CA) - Berkeley (CA) via Santa Monica (CA) (389 miles)

Text to be posted shortly.

This is the final stage of our road trip and concludes our daily coverage. We covered 4058 miles in distance (we actually drove 4248.6 miles / 6837.5 km) from coast to coast (via Historic Route 66 from Chicago to Los Angeles) and crossed 13 states (MA, NY, PA, OH, IN, IL, MO, KS, OK, TX, NM, AZ, CA) and four time zones. Our Chevy Tahoe LT 'burned' 226.9 gallons (859 liter) of unleaded premium gasoline and we used almost 3 gallons of windshield washer liquid. Further we required one AAA support dispatch at Santa Monica Blvd. and 14th St. (Santa Monica, CA) on this very last day of our trip.
