Day 13: Flagstaff (AZ) - Kingman (AZ) via Grand Canyon National Park and Seligman (AZ) (268 miles + 6 miles hike round trip on Bright Angel Trail starting from the South Rim)

The highlight of today's trip was a hike in Grand Canyon. With temperatures around 35°C (100°F), we decided to be reasonable and picked a relatively short trail. Bright Angel Trail to the Three Mile Rest House (6 miles / 9.6 km round-trip and 2120 ft / 645 m difference in altitude) was just perfect. The views were amazing and instead of taking four to six hours, as indicated, we were back at the rim within 3.5 hours. Reassured of our hiking fitness, we are determined to hike rim to rim next time we visit Grand Canyon.

So far we completed 3301 miles of our trip and crossed 12 states (MA, NY, PA, OH, IN, IL, MO, KS, OK, TX, NM, AZ) and four time zones.
